CAKE2 has come to an end!

2009's Summer Program wrapped up Friday, July 31 with our prize-giveaway party. Watch the video posted above for an overview of Cake2's activities and participation.

CAKE2!

Cake2 - 2009's YA Summer Program - is designed to allow you to build your own program based on your interests. We call it "cake" because that's how easy it is! Cake2 has only one (1) Rule. You must read one (1) book. The rest of your program is entirely up to you!

Cake2 is a point-based program. Earn points by doing any of the activities described below. Fifty (50) points earn you one (1) ticket for the final drawing. The more tickets you have the better your chances for cool prizes, so earn as many points as you can! Extra points may be added depending on time and effort exerted - these points are decided at Scott and Brandon’s discretion.

Where do I sign up?

Signing up is easy! All you have to do is come into the Young Adult Department on the 2nd floor of the Hays Public Library anytime on or after Friday, May 22nd - the first day of the program. Stop by the desk, and we'll sign you up and give you your Cake2 ID# - we use this number to keep track of everything you do, so don't lose it! Once you're signed up, you can get straight to building your point total. You will also be given a permission form / honesty agreement which you and your parent/guardian will have to sign and return. If you want to sign up but can't make it into the library for a while, sign up online here.

If you plan on participating in the activities that take place away from the library, you must get permission from your parent/guardian. The permission/honesty form lists all dates of activities located off-site, and your parent/guardian must indicate whether permission to attend these activities is given or withheld.

How do I earn these points?

Points are given in four different categories - Reading, Activity, Technology, and Community. Keep track of the points you've earned on this printable Activity Log and turn it in as necessary - we'll keep track of everyone's point totals. (You can also submit an activity log through our website here. Take a look at all the ways to earn points this summer:
