What's a CAKEOUT? It's like a blackout at a sporting event. But instead of wearing black, even though the t-shirts are black, you wear your CAKE shirt to school. And hopefully there are so many of them that people are like, "What's CAKE?" And then you are all like, "It's the Young Adult Summer Program at the Hays Public Library." And they're like, "WHOA!"
These pictures coming up are brand new, from yesterday. Yesterday we handed out shirts in preperation of the CAKEOUT on THURSDAY! We also played some videogames and had a pretty good time.

So it isn't always hustle and bustle up here. Sometimes we just have a quiet moment or two with friends. These are just some pictures that don't really fit into any of our big activities, but were a fun way to show all of us just having a good time.
Ok, so sometimes it is being silly for the camera.
See more after the jump.

Want to know how we fund your summer program? Easy . . . . We call businesses and ask for donations. But that's not all. We ask you to be involved, after all it is your program. And your help makes our program even better. So we had Laser Tag and our Second Annual Taped 4 Teens Fundraiser. Yep, taping kids to the library seems to be a great way to raise money. So thank the people in these pictures (or yourself if you are in these pictures) for helping out our program.
We'd also like to thank everyone who donated to our cause!

So you asked for a Talent Show and we gave a Talent Show. We had stand-up comedy, sit-down comedy, singing, drawing, origami, dislocating shoulders, and arm-pit noises to name a few.
Our Winners:
Dylan, Jennifer, Tanner and Parker playing their school fight song
Aaron singing Phatom of the Opera
and Cris being able to fit his whole hand in his mouth.

Moms are important. Without them we wouldn't be here. So to celebrate Mother's Day we made up some recycled flower pots, and potted some flowers to give to your mommas!

Wednesdays, as you know, we have Book Buddies. We pair up one of our Young Adults with a kid or two from the Children's Dept. and read to them. Reading aloud helps build vocabulary skills, plus our buddies make great role models.

So for Easter we had on our calender an Easter Egg Hunt, intending a traditional Easter Egg Hunt, where you all would search for eggs and open them to find candy. But instead Brandon had the idea to use our Nerf Guns to actually hunt Easter Eggs, the evil kind that you don't see much of.

It's been awhile since I've updated our pictures. I wanted to try to do it after the activities happened, but I am about a month and a half behind. So here are some pics from the video game making workshop!
